Zeiss Day at Camera West SoHo
On Saturday, September 19th, we were delighted to host a day of cameras and community at Camera West’s SoHo location, all centered around a visit from high-performance lens manufacturer, Zeiss.
As any good morning should, the day started with a Cameras & Coffee hangout. Fresh pastries and hot brew were provided as photographers entered the store ready to mingle, show off their gear, and shoot some photos.
Zeiss Sales Manager Richard Scali was on hand to loan out lenses and offer support to anyone interested in learning more about their offerings. He brought in a great lineup of Zeiss lenses for people to try, including ones for Leica M, Fujifilm XF, Nikon Z, and Canon RF mounts, just to cover all the bases.
And to top off the experience, we hired two models to serve as subjects throughout the day so that people could test the lenses’ performance.
After the attendees got a good dose of coffee and conversation, we moved the party outside so we could embark on a photo walk in partnership with Beers & Cameras, CineStill, and NYC Film Lab.
During our walk, we filed down West Broadway, crossed Houston Street into the Village, and made our way to Washington Square Park. Along the way, we used the city as our backdrop and each other as subjects. There was an array of digital and analog equipment being used, including a 4×5 large-format camera.
After we took some fun group shots in Washington Square Park, the group returned to Camera West to pull raffle winners for some great giveaways, including a brand new Zeiss C Sonnar T* 50mm f1.5 ZM lens, CineStill goodie bags, and Beers & Cameras hats. After all the prizes were handed out, we finally settled in for some drinks at The Folly bar on Houston Street.
