My name is David Knoble, and photography for me has always been about the right light, at the right time, on the right subject. I grew up hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, painted watercolors for over a decade, and studied physics at UNC Chapel Hill, where I spent three years running the black and white film lab. That mix of art and science still shapes how I see. Today I shoot medium format and 35mm Leica, concentrating on landscape and documentary work, with published books in both and current projects along the South Carolina coast and in Iceland. I also founded Mission Photography, a non-profit using documentary work to support humanitarian projects worldwide.
