Today in Thumbprint & Signatures; a series that highlights the unique visual signature of Leica lenses, new and old, we are featuring the Leica 35mm f1.4 Summilux-M Steel Rim Lens.
Produced from 1961 to 1995, this compact low aperture lens was a staple for any photographer’s arsenal interested in low light photography. For just over 30 years, it was hailed as the world’s fastest wide angle lens with the ability to create stunning images with Leica’s dream-like signature at f1.4. Many photographers appreciate its compact size and it made the perfect one camera one lens combination to suit many occasions. The 35mm Summilux Steel Rim came in two versions; with goggles (for the Leica M3) and without goggles (for the Leica M2). This lens paired with the Leica M10 system breathes life into an old classic, perfect for any situation. Photos by @leftf0otforward
