On September 4, 2025, we were honored to host the opening reception for Mark Steinmetz’s exhibition Summertime // Love! The show unites selections from his acclaimed Summertime series tendering portraits and languid scenes steeped in the haze of youth with a collection of photographs made during his travels around the world.
With a discerning eye for fleeting gestures and the quiet theater of everyday life, Steinmetz has spent decades creating images that feel at once intimate and timeless. From sun-dappled afternoons in American suburbs to shadow-drawn streets in distant cities, his photographs speak a language of patience and empathy, capturing both the universal and the particular, the unrepeatable moment and the enduring sense of place.

Alongside the exhibition, we hosted a two-and-a-half-day workshop with Mark Steinmetz, offering photographers a rare chance to study with one of the most influential voices in contemporary American photography.
Designed for participants with existing bodies of work, the program combined lectures, portfolio reviews, and in-depth group discussions, fostering critical dialogue and reflection on artistic influence. With an emphasis on rigorous critique and Steinmetz’s thoughtful, poetic approach to image-making, the workshop invited students to engage deeply with their practice, bringing questions, goals, and openness into a dynamic and responsive learning environment.
