On June 26, 2025, we were honored to present the opening reception for “A Stab At Heaven,” Mark de Paola’s third solo exhibition with us.
This powerful body of work traces the real-life story of Ema McKie and her personal journey through grief, truth, and transformation. We’ll let Mark and Ema share more about their collaboration and how this deeply moving narrative evolved into an exhibition, a book, and an upcoming feature film.

Alongside with the exhibition, we hosted a weekend masterclass on narrative portraiture with de Paola Pictures. Held on location at Sutro Baths and downtown San Francisco, the workshop offered participants the opportunity to build two unique photo stories while exploring sequencing, character development, and the relationship between portrait and place. Open to all levels, the program was an invitation to deepen one’s visual storytelling in a dynamic and inspiring environment.
