On Saturday, October 19th, Leica Store San Francisco partnered up with Tim Ryugo of Kodak Professional and Underdog Film Lab for an exciting collaboration to recognize and celebrate the 70th anniversary of Leica M and the iconic film Kodak Tri-X!

The celebration consisted of:

• In-store meet up to learn a brief history Leica’s history and importance to the 35mm photography format and the birth of what would be the worlds most iconic combination, the Leica M and Kodak Tri-X .

• A Photowalk with Tim Ryugo (Kodak Professional), Carlo Velasquez (Leica Store San Francisco), Brian Brooks and Dirk Hatch (Underdog Film Lab) through Union Square, to Yerba Buena, and SOMA.

• In-store celebration of the legendary Kodak Tri-X film with raffle prizes!

Tim loaded up his car with hundreds of rolls of film and iconic “portra 400 chapstick” in preparation for the event! He even brought Kodak Tri-x single use cameras for folks who did not have a film camera.

In-Store Meet up

Folks arrived bright and early and were excited to check in for the raffle and to meet Tim! Everyone lined up to get their roll of Tri-X for the photowalk, looked at photo books for inspiration, and mingled until the start of the event.

Photo Walk

Everyone gathered in the back of the store for a brief presentation by Tim Ryugo and Carlo Velasquez about the respective histories of Leica Cameras and the birth of the M3, and Tri-x film.

After making sure everyone had their raffle ticket, Carlo went over the photowalk route which lead the group through Union Square, Yerba Buena, and SOMA. The photowalk was check point based so folks could stick with the group, jump ahead to the other check points, or free roam until the meet up time back at the store for the raffle.

After an epic group photo we set out on the walk!

Raffle Time!

As everyone funneled back into the store we all took a moment to decompress after the long walk and get ready for the raffle.

Everyone gathered in the back once again for the raffle. The raffle prizes were provided by Kodak Professional, Leica Store San Francisco, and Underdog Film Lab.
